WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S) is no longer being used or maintained by our group
WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S) is a specification for the provision of a service-oriented access mechanism to RDF(S) ontologies.
This OGSA-compliant specification defines the set of data resources and associated access messages and interfaces required for the integration of RDF(S) ontologies in any service-oriented Grid application.
RDF(S) Grid Access Bridge (RGAB) is the reference implementation for WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S), providing independence (aka virtualization) over the RDF(S) storage systems used and the actual physical location of RDF(S) ontologies.
RDF(S) ontologies may be stored in a distributed set of RDF(S) storage systems and accessed using the resource access mechanisms defined by WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S) specification.
The WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S) specification can be implemented using any web-service based infrastructure. There is no restriction regarding the platform chosen: it can be implemented using traditional web service platforms (e.g., Apache Axis) or Web-service based Grid platforms (e.g., Globus Toolkit 4).
The RDF(S) Grid Access Bridge can be used programmatically using its web service interface. The system also includes a set of lightweight clients that allow interacting with the services using the command line.
Both the WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S) specification and the RDF(S) Grid Access Bridge implementation have been created in the context of the OntoGrid project.
The WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S) specification has been used as the basis for the elaboration of the WS-DAI-RDF(S) specification, which is being standardized in the Open Grid Forum (http://www.ogf.org).
