UpGrid, "Ubiquitous Access to Audio/Video contents based on UPnP, was a project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation under the AVANZA Program for years 2008, 2009 and 2010. Participants of this projects are Telefónica R & D (coordinator), iSOCO and the OEG group (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM).
The objective of this project was to introduce semantic technologies in households. Previous to this project, home computers could share your media (videos, music, photos) in a relatively easy way. In this project we have extended the file-sharing capabilities, so that, indicating our social networks, the system is able to share files with family and friends. The system also allows owners or authorized persons provide files with semantic annotations. This semantic information allows users to perform natural language queries like "show me the files in which my nephew appers" or "play the music that likes me and my girlfriend ", which uses the network information social, or where social network information is mixed with information from the user's, files and annotations, as in "show me the video of last summer, lower than 30 seconds length, in which me and my girlfriend appear".
