1. The group provides an excellent multicultural research environment, with PhD and MSc students from different nationalities (more than half of our PhD students are not Spanish, and for more than one third their mother tongue is not Spanish). Our research seminars, which happen once a week for cross-fertilisation across the different research areas of our group, are always held in English and provide a good way to exchange ideas and discuss about research topics.
2. The research areas covered by our group are at the forefront of worldwide research, with high-impact highly-referenced publications. For instance, our book on Ontological Engineering is being used in more than 50 international courses related to Semantic Web, Linked Data and Ontological Engineering. Many of our most important papers are commonly referenced as part of the most relevant state of the art in our research areas.
3. We have a good number of international and national projects running in our group, with some of the most relevant institutions in Europe and the United States.
4. Commonly we have visitors from other international institutions that come to our group for short periods of time to discuss with us about their research, enriching the research context of our group.
5. Our PhD students are always offered the possibility of obtaining a European or International PhD. To achieve that, the student should at least spend three months during his/her PhD in another institution abroad. If funds are available, we try to get PhD students to visit external institutions every year, or attend summer schools.
