El Center of Open Middleware (COM) es un centro tecnológico creado en octubre de 2011 por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, el Banco de Santander, Isban y Produban con el objetivo de convertirse en la incubadora de un ecosistema abierto de middleware. El candidato seleccionado desarrollará su trabajo en este grupo, en el contexto del proyecto del Center for Open Middleware ALM iStack, actualmente en su segundo año.
The Ontology Engineering Group, based at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Informáticos (previously Facultad de Informática) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), is one of the official UPM research groups and currently stands in the 9th position in the UPM research group ranking. The group carries out research in the fields of Ontological Engineering, Semantic Web and Linked Data, Semantic e-Science, Natural Language Processing, and Future Internet. Furthermore, it has developed applications for a wide range of environments, including knowledge management, environmental applications, e-commerce, job search and finance, geo-location, multimedia library management, etc.
El Ontology Engineering Group busca un licenciado, Ingeniero Superior, Master, o titulación equivalente para el proyecto BabelData. Su objetivo será la implementación de algoritmos de descubrimiento de enlaces multilingües en Linked Data.
Se requieren conocimientos en tecnologías semánticas: RDF(S), SPARQL, OWL, Jena, Sesame, Virtuoso, Pubby, etc. y experiencia en desarrollo e ingeniería Web, así como lenguajes de programación (Java, php, javascript, Scala). Así mismo se exige un buen nivel de inglés hablado y escrito. Se valorará capacidad para el trabajo en equipo, tener iniciativa, ser flexible y disponer de excelentes dotes de comunicación para trabajar como parte de un equipo multinacional y multidisciplinar.

To undertake research investigations in collaboration with and under the supervision of Dr Oscar Corcho, in the context of the project “Evolución de una plataforma de Widgets, mediante soporte para wiring”, which is a joint project between UPM (Ontology Engineering Group and ConWet Lab) and ISBAN, funded under the agreement between UPM and Banco Santander for the creation of the Centre for Open Middleware (COM).
The work to be done will consist in the analysis of the state of the art of languages (and their corresponding semantic extensions) for the description of Web services, widgets and mashups, and their extension for the specification of the semantics of existing widgets and mashups used by ISBAN in their products. Semantic descriptions will have to be created for existing widgets, and algorithms for data mediation will need to be developed to cover those needs.
